Amenities:

Our food system is more than just what we eat - it’s how it’s grown, processed and transported to us, and the many people involved at each step! The food that we consume affects more than just our health, but the environment too. Students will learn the steps it takes to bring food from the farm to our homes, and how buying local food can reduce our carbon footprints.

While they may be small, insects and pollinators play a mighty role in our ecosystem! Some break down waste below the Earth’s surface, and others pollinate flowers as they fly through the air. Explore the different environments where our insects live, and join us on a scavenger hunt to see who calls our gardens home!

Trees play an important role in urban environments, from filtering pollutants from the air, to lowering air temperatures in the summer, and reducing the effects of a changing climate. Visit our mini-arboretum to learn about the many benefits that trees provide and see a collection of trees for small spaces.

Recycling appropriate food scraps at home is a fun and exciting way to reduce our household trash and replace rich nutrients back into our soil. Once we start to think about where our trash ends up, we can create ways to reduce, reuse, and recycle!

There are many ways to turn fresh produce from your garden into a tasty recipe! Join us as we learn exciting ways to turn farm fresh fruits and vegetables into nutritious snacks, and try your hand at making your own!
